| Actual Palm Beach Smiles Makeover Case |
From the desk of Dr. Michael I. Barr - Palm Beach Smiles - Boynton Beach, Florida:
Smile Makeovers (also known as "Full Mouth Reconstruction")
have been a hot topic since TV "reality" shows brought them to the public's
attention.
The American audience realized that perhaps the most important ingredient in the
"extreme makeovers" was the Smile Makeover. In most
cases, the Smile Makeover created a greater impact than any of the plastic
surgery enhancements.
Many studies have indicated that our smile is the most socially significant physical feature on our bodies. And, many Hollywood celebrities use that to their advantage. There is no doubt about the power of a nice smile. A nice smile projects confidence. A nice smile communicates friendliness and approachability. And, I think we'd all agree that a great smile goes a long way towards attracting a mate.
So, what can a great "Palm Beach Smile" mean to you? A promotion? Sealing the deal? Credibility among your peers? Getting the attention of "Mr. or Mrs. Right?" Or perhaps it just means being able to look in the mirror and liking what you see every day?
I would like to emphasize that all photos are actual cases done in my Boynton Beach dental practice.
You may have noticed that almost every dentist claims to be a
"cosmetic dentist." And, since there is not a recognized specialty of
"cosmetic dentistry," it can be a challenge for people to choose a dentist for
their special needs.
A good cosmetic or "makeover" dentist needs to have attended extensive continuing education. That means the dentist must participate in seminars and courses in this field. And, not just one or two weekend courses. Not just lectures where the dentist sits and listens. Ask about clinical "hands-on" education. Secondly, you should ask about experience.
Thirdly, ask to see proof! Ask to see before and after photos of actual cases done by the dentist. Are the photos sharply focused? Are the pictures big enough to see clearly? Do the smiles look natural? Or do the teeth look like a dental version of "Lee Press-on Nails?"
Look at the following two pictures. Not all "cosmetic dentistry" is created equally. The case on the left is an example of... well... it doesn't need explanation. The photo on the right is an example of teeth restored with porcelain crowns at Palm Beach Smiles. Choose your cosmetic dentist carefully.

There are a number of reasons to have a
Palm Beach Smile Makeover.
Naturally, many people are strongly motivated by their dissatisfaction with the
appearance of their smiles. Maybe you have a big event coming up, like a
wedding or an important job interview. Perhaps you've found yourself "back
on the market" and want to improve your image.
But, there are other beneficial reasons to pursue Smile Reconstruction. One good reason is for improved FUNCTION. Worn, missing, broken teeth make eating and speaking difficult. Rebuilding a broken down smile can restore comfortable speaking and eating. And, of course, a Smile Makeover can turn back the hands of time when it comes to your appearance.
Not necessarily. Everyone's situation and goals are
different. So, a Smile Makeover can come in many degrees. For some
it may be only a few teeth that are distracting from an otherwise nice smile. For others it may be just the teeth that show when smiling or
speaking. And, for some, it may be every tooth in their mouths to
restore function and appearance.
Marianne, pictured on the left, had a very conservative smile makeover that had a dramatic impact overall. Check it out by clicking on her portrait!
Here's a great example of a conservative makeover that included whitening and restoring only the front four teeth with porcelain veneers and crowns:
